Mazda Mx-5 Miata plug and play coil on plug conversion kit.This is a complete kit to replace your old and weak Miata coils with a set of brand new NGK VAG/R8 coilpacks.
These coils are used on many performance VAG models.
The original coils aren't the strongest coils and tend to misfire with high compression or boost. These coil on plugs are way stronger, more reliable and it just looks absolutely great. These coils are slightly more powerfull than the Toyota coilpacks, and give your enginebay a modernised look.
It's the perfect ignition upgrade for your Miata!
Go for a sequential spark harness in case you want individual control over your coils. This harness will allow you to wire cylinder 3 and 4 into the options plug on your standalone ECU.
Note that you'll need a tach output from your ECU to your tacho on all NA models. These coils don't provide a tacho output unlike the Toyota coils.

This kit is designed for a NA Mx-5 with a 1.6 engine.
The NA6 models won't connect at the back of the head, but at the power TR Unit on the right fender.
Do you have a 1.8 engine in your 1.6 chassis? And are you are still using your original wiring harness? Then choose for a 1.6 wiring harness with a 1.8 adapterplate. These are sold seperately on the webshop.
In case you're running a GTX or Mercury valvecover please leave a message at checkout. These require a different adapter which can be made to order.
A standalone ecu is advised for adjusting dwelltimes! This will drastically improve the coilpack lifetime. All the suggested dwelltimes are given in the supplied installation guide.
Not all standalones provide a strong enough current for these coils! Most modern ECU's do; the following versions have been tested:
