The Mazda MX-5 NA 1.6 engine suffers from disrupted coolant flow due to its factory “front-in / front-out” layout, leaving the fourth cylinder prone to higher temperatures. This results in uneven combustion, accelerated wear on piston rings, reduced performance or overheating.

The I.L. Motorsport coolant reroute solves these issues by redirecting coolant flow with a “front-in / rear-out” concept. This ensures even cooling across all cylinders, more stable operating temperatures, and reduced stress on engine internals – especially under high load or forced induction use. With more consistent cooling, engine management receives more accurate data, lowering the risk of detonation, accurate fuelling and thereby helping the engine deliver reliable power.

This kit also improves radiator efficiency, reduces alternator load by minimizing fan run time, and retains OEM sensor locations for a straightforward installation – no wiring modifications required.
